Watch who you do business with. I sold a surprising number of records in Japan via a label that does a lot of import releases from US artists. The contract provisioned that they were to only sell Free Speech vinyl in Asian markets. This was quickly breached as I discovered that units were being pushed in European stores. Fine, I can deal with that. But when I tried to collect my royalties, they started donkey-dicking around saying that they had already disbursed payment to an agent that was responsible for remittance to by bank account. Of course, like a '08 gas-guzzling Hummer, I ain't buying that iddish. After some strong arming through email, they agreed to transfer the money. Otherwise, I'd hafta hit up Priceline, fly to Japan, and get my Godzilla-on. Tokyo would be on fi-yah! Anyway, my Yen should be arriving sometime next week. If not, you'll hear about it...on CNN.
